About Me

inside duchesse.JPG

Beauty Rooted in Ecology was born from decades of learning, living, and serving in Katy, Texas and the Greater Houston area.

I am passionate about connecting people of all ages and backgrounds with the transformative beauty of nature — especially through native plants, pollinator-friendly landscapes, flowers, and kitchen gardens.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology & Chemistry and spent 26 years as an educator teaching multiple disciplines including Horticulture, STEM, Art, Culinary, and Production Enterprises with students of all ages and abilities. My work has also included installing gardens at schools and residential treatment facilities, creating spaces that nurture both people and place.

For 10 years, I served as a Texas Master Gardener with Fort Bend County, where I helped launch the Plants in the Classroom program — a dream rooted in my own childhood experiences with family & teachers who opened the natural world to me through plants, birds, and outdoor learning.

A lifelong love of flowers, wildlife, pollinators, birds, and nature continues to shape both my work and philosophy today. My hope is to create outdoor spaces that bring beauty, joy, connection, and restoration into everyday life.

In gratitude,
Aleta Patrick
